DESIGNER Giles Deacon is leading the cast of high profile faces joining Crusaid's THINK.TALK.ACT.GIVE campaign this World Aids Day, which takes place on December 1. Deacon's Eek mascot T-shirt, designed for the campaign, goes on sale on the charity's website and the designer is keen that the campaign's message gets through.
"People need to be reminded that HIV and Aids haven't gone away and that it was not just an illness of the Eighties," Giles said today. "Fashion is a form of self expression and always gets people talking. By getting Eek 'protected' I hope he can inspire many conversations around HIV and Aids and really get people talking and thinking about this illness- it affects everyone."
Old Giles favourite Eek made his debut in the designer's autumn/winter 2007-8 collection and now appears (somewhere) in every Giles collection. For the World Aids Day T-shirt the character has "protected himself" using spikes to open the discussion about the spread of Aids worldwide.
