Tuxedo Options

Though the concept is unheard-of in women's fashion, renting formal attire is quite commonplace among men. Tuxedos are one of the most popularly rented items in men's fashion, as few men actually own a tuxedo. A tuxedo is considered to be the utmost in formality, and is not worth owning if you do not attend at least several very upscale events per year. If you are a young man looking to rent a tuxedo during prom season, make sure to call your local rental store at least three or four months in advance. You will need to be fitted, and will have to choose your particular style of tuxedo as well. Tuxedos vary in terms of lapel style (notch, peak, or shoulder), jacket style (with or without full tails, or cutaway), shirt style (color, type of collar), and tie style (ascot, bowtie, or laydown). Most tuxedos are black, which is considered the most formal, though gray tuxedos are a less-formal option, usually reserved for affairs occurring before six o'clock in the evening.
